Shiny Flakes Bust: 38 Houses Raided

Update on the Shiny Flakes bust that we reported about yesterday – The finanznachrichten.de reports that following the arrest another 38 search warrants were executed in many locations across Germany including Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern according to Leipzig police chief Bernd Merbitz who stated the above at a press conference showing the seized drugs:

According to the police, the investigation started few months ago when two letters with drugs were not sufficiently stamped and returned to the wrong sender addresses, the investigators than proceeded to make many controlled purchases from the “Shiny Flakes” site(s) which were later tracked back to Leipzig and led to the main suspect. It is estimated (by the police..) that between October 2014 and February 2015 alone “Shiny Flakes” made more than a million sales.

During the arrest the police seized 325,000 Euro’s worth In BTC – 48,000 Euro’s In Cash & 320KG of various drugs estimate at about 4.1M Euros along with another 40KG of drugs that were seized later. According to the prosecution, The main 20-years old suspect was arrested near the end of February along with his alleged courier – a 51 Years old Bulgarian man while carrying several KG of drugs intended for “replenishment”.

The seized drugs consisted of: Crystal, cocaine, amphetamine (speed), ecstasy tablets, LSD, hashish and marijuana.
